The new kiosks will be able to copy car keys, both with transponder chips and those without. This is an industry game-changer as this is the first time car keys have ever been able to be copied at a self-service kiosk.

These next generation kiosks are also integrated with the popular and free KeyMe mobile app, creating a seamless multi-platform experience – keys can be saved, accessed and then printed at the kiosks or via mail.  The KeyMe iOS mobile app has hundreds of thousands of customers storing their keys and a new Android app is set to be released in November.

Source: www.bsminfo.com

“In recent years, there has been a lot of attention surrounding tablet-based mPOS systems,” notes Harbortouch CEO Jared Isaacman. “However, we have started to see a backlash against these tablet systems as merchants realize their limitations. These systems utilize underpowered consumer hardware and have limited software functionality both on the front-end and back-end. They often lack key features that businesses need to operate efficiently and offer limited back-end reporting capabilities. Harbortouch Echo delivers an answer to these problems in terms of both hardware and software.”

London’s iconic phone booths reborn as solar gadget-charging kiosks

The ‘solarbox’ scheme may pain some smartphone-eschewing old-timers. But at least London’s beloved phone boxes are still kind of being used to make calls, right?

Source: www.mnn.com

On Tottenham Court Road, a single démodé London phone booth dressed in the standard “currant red” has been painted over in green and outfitted with roof-mounted solar panels. Inside the kiosk, the payphone hardware has been removed and replaced with charging stations for mobile devices and screens that, naturally, play advertisements.

An additional five so-called solarboxes will join the kick-off kiosk at Tottenham Court Road Station by next spring. It’s expected that each solarbox, capable of boosting device batteries by 20 percent in 10 minutes flat, can charge up to 100 mobile devices per day.

And those looking to use a solarbox needn’t have a pocketful of pence or swipe a credit card. The sextet of charging stations will be free of charge although users are, as mentioned, subjected to a stream of adverts while they patiently wait for their batteries to receive a boost.
